Book of Prof. (Dr.) G. P. Pandey was released by the Honorable State Minister of MHRD.

The book entitled “Press Journalism of Assam and Meghalaya” was written by Prof. (Dr.) G. P. Pandey, Dean Abanindranath Tagore School of Creative Arts and Communication Studies and Head, Department of Mass Communication, Assam University, Silchar and published by Publication Division, Minister of Information and Broadcasting, Government of India, New Delhi was released on an auspicious occasion and gracious presence of academician and professionals in New Delhi by Dr. Mahendra Nath Pandey, Honorable Minister of State for Human Resource Development (Higher Education) in New Delhi recently. On this occasion, the Honorable Minister appreciated the efforts of Prof. Pandey for completing such a herculean task and also writing such an original informative and comprehensive book of its kind. He expressed the hope the book will not only give glimpses of the journey of journalism of aforesaid states but also the role of the press in the freedom movement and all-around development of the region. The other speakers on the occasion also expressed their opinion that this book will cater for the long-felt need of the region as well as gives scope to the readers of other regions especially North India to understand the journalism of Assam and Meghalaya.

This book is a rare collection of information about the newspapers and prominent journalists of this region. The book tries to give authentic comprehensive information about the press and newspapers of these two states with scanned copies of Newspapers and a brief profile of the journalists, which are rarest of rare information. The book also gives general information about these two states. The getup, printing and quality of paper of the book are appreciable.
