Mr. Ashok Ogra is Adviser of Apeejay Institute of Mass Communication – that has figured among ‘Top Ten Media Institutes of India’ in the leading publications including ‘India Today’, ‘Career360’ & ‘Outlook’ magazines.
He is also ‘Honorary Advisor’ of School of Journalism & Mass Communication (SJMC), Apeejay Stya University, Gohna, Gurgaon.
Mr. Ogra is a noted management & media professional and educator with over 40 years of work experience across media platforms including Radio, Television
and Print.
He started his career with ‘The Tribune’ in 1977 and later joined Doordarshan as Producer (News & Current Affairs).
He became Director of Doordarshan in 1988 and worked as Controller of Sales
during 1993-95.
Mr. Ogra was senior member of the start-up team that launched Discovery Channel in 1995 and Animal Planet in 1998 where he worked as Vice President (incharge of the entire South Asia region). During his tenure, ‘Discovery Channel’ and ‘Animal Planet’ emerged as most reputed media brand in the
entire region.
He also taught at the reputed Film & TV Institute, Pune (1982-1985)
He has also served as a Jury Member of various film festivals including the prestigious Indian National Film Awards, ENBA 2015 ‘News Broadcasting Awards’ and also Chairman of the UNESCO-CEMCA Jury for Video Competition on ‘Community Radio’.
He is regular invitees at both national and international forums.
He writes regularly on various media and management issues for a leading English daily of Jammu & Kashmir.
He is on the Executive Council of Central University of Jammu and on the ‘Board of Studies’ of Central University of South Bihar, IIS University Rajasthan, and was on the ‘Board of Study’ of Jamia Milia Islamia (MCRC), University of Rajasthan, Management School of Jammu University and other State Govt./Private Universities.
He is also a member of the Indian Advisory group of the UKIERI (UK) funded project to support Research and Innovation in Media Institutions in India and UK.
