Dr. Aastha Saxena is an Associate Professor and Head in the Department of Journalism and Mass Communication at Poornima University, Jaipur. With extensive experience in academia, she brings a deep understanding of the dynamic media landscape. Dr. Saxena’s research interests are multifaceted, spanning media studies, advertising, public relations, digital media, and women’s empowerment and health initiatives.
Her academic credentials include a Ph.D. in Journalism and Mass Communication, MJMC, MBA as well as UGC-NET. With a strong commitment to nurturing the next generation of media professionals, she has supervised 4 Ph.D. students who have successfully earned their degrees under her guidance. Dr. Saxena has also mentored numerous undergraduate and postgraduate research projects, shaping the academic and practical skills of her students.
Dr. Saxena’s career also includes her significant contribution to the academic field as an Assistant Professor (Selection Grade) in the Department of Journalism and Mass Communication at IIS (Deemed to be University). During her tenure, she played a pivotal role in curriculum development, research supervision, and promoting academic excellence.
As a prolific author and editor, Dr. Saxena has made significant contributions to the field of media and communication through her written work. Her book A Systematic Approach to Research is widely recognized for its insightful approach to research methodologies. Additionally, she is the editor and associate editor of several influential volumes, including Innovations and Practices in Mass Communication, Digital Pulse: Shaping the Future of Media and Communication and Advertising Reimagined: Clicks, Stories, and Beyond.
She is the President of Writers’ Reservoir India, a national platform devoted to fostering creative and academic writing, and has been actively engaged in several academic and community outreach initiatives. With more than ten years of editorial leadership as the member of the Editorial team of a UGC CARE-listed journal- IIS Journal of Arts, Dr. Saxena has made significant contributions to academic publishing and research dissemination. Her scholarly articles and research papers have been published in reputed national and international journals, and she is a regular presenter at conferences and seminars.
Her contributions have been recognized through several prestigious awards. She was honored with the Public Relations–Mass Communication Teaching Excellence Award by the Public Relations Society of India (PRSI), Jaipur Chapter, on National Public Relations Day, April 21, 2025. She also received the Award for Excellence in Education at the 13th Principals & Teachers Award 2024, organized by Thar Sarvoday Sansthan and Simply Jaipur at Jawahar Kala Kendra, Jaipur.
Dr. Saxena is proficient in various media and research software, including Quark Express, Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Illustrator, Corel Draw, Adobe Flash, Adobe Premiere Pro, Adobe Dreamweaver, Adobe InDesign, Final Cut Pro, and SPSS. This technical expertise, combined with her academic and practical experience, allows her to deliver a rich and engaging learning experience to her students.
