AI in Research: Redefining Methodology, Empowering Analysis | 📅 Day 2 Highlights– A One-Week Online Workshop

Organized by Communication Today in collaboration with Writers Reservoir India

On Day 2 of our national workshop series, participants explored the expanding role of Artificial Intelligence in research, guided by expert speaker Dr. Manvinder Singh Pahwa Professor, Department of Commerce, Dr. Harisingh Gour Central University, Sagar.

The session began with a detailed discussion on the difference between analysis and analytics, followed by definitions and phases of AI—Narrow AI, General AI, and Super AI—alongside critical ethical considerations like data privacy, bias, and accountability.

Participants gained real-world insights into how AI is transforming research through automation, data processing, natural language processing (NLP), predictive analytics, and real-time decision-making. Tools like ChatGPT, EndNote, Zotero, and Power BI were discussed.

The session also addressed challenges in academia, including overreliance on AI by students, and explored evolving roles of educators in fostering critical thinking. A hands-on introduction to ChatGPT helped participants navigate login, interface features, and prompt use for academic tasks.

Thoughtful questions from participants like Devashish Shedge , poet Shailesh Shukla, Dr Tanushri Mukherjee and Prof Sanjeev Bhanawat enriched the dialogue, while Dr Aditi Pareek facilitated logistics, group interaction, and announced a daily quiz to reinforce learning.

A group photograph, quiz feedback, and discussion on future sessions concluded the day on an interactive note.

📅 Day 3 | Online Workshop on AI in Research
18th June 2025

Welcome to Day 3 of the One Week Online Workshop on “AI in Research: Redefining Methodology, Empowering Analysis”, jointly organized by Communication Today and Writers’ Reservoir. Today’s session was moderated by Rama Choudhary, visiting faculty at IIS University, who warmly introduced the lead resource person Prof. (Dr.) Manvinder Singh Pahwa.

The session focused on Prompt Engineering in AI-based Research – a critical skill for effective communication with AI tools like ChatGPT. Dr. Pahwa explained core principles including prompt design, contextualization, instruction clarity, output formatting, and iterative refinement. Participants gained hands-on exposure to few-shot prompting, chain-of-thought reasoning, and prompt chaining.

The practical demonstration featured file uploads, data analysis, and generation of thesis-style outputs. The session covered statistical applications, such as normality tests, regression, correlation, and hypothesis formulation. Participants including Meenal Pendse, Madhumita Das, and Girish Chandra Sharma etc interacted actively, refining prompts live and exploring tools like Mann-Whitney U test, Chi-square, and Cronbach’s Alpha.

Additional discussions included ethical use of AI, changing referencing styles, and generating APA-styled data analysis chapters. The engaging session concluded with a group photo and feedback collection.
